Heung Wing, a Hong Kong native with a haunting ability to see ghosts, returns to his unstable apartment complex after his mother’s suicide attempt. As he witnesses more eerie events, he questions his sanity and suspects a macabre conspiracy. Director Nate Ki’s feature debut blends horror tropes with southern Chinese mythology, blurring the lines between living and dead. The film features spooky children, self-mutilations, human sacrifices, black magic, and other visceral manifestations of the protagonist’s troubled psyche.

Back Home Movie Review:-

Director Nate Ki’s creepy horror movie, Heung Wing, is a feature debut that showcases his talent for suggesting rather than detailing backstory and an unabashed streak of cruelty. The film draws on horror traditions of Cantonese cinema and western film-makers, with elements of space, David Lynch, and a community full of secrets and evil trope. Heung Wing (Anson Ip-Sang Kong) returns to Hong Kong after his mother’s death, and he is haunted by memories of his childhood, particularly his ability to see ghosts. As the film unfolds, Wing observes the action helplessly, like a stage actor watching others act out flashbacks.

The Chungs (Tai-Bo and Yuk Ying Tam), an elderly couple, are also present. The film uses revolving cameras and canted angles to unsettle the audience, with lighting favoring jaundice-yellow tones for daylight scenes and lurid reds and blues at night. Bai Ling, a fine actor, adds a tragic and deranged element to the mix, making it a creepy and disturbing film.
