Joe Movie Review:-
Joe is a film that narrates a romantic tale in a sensible and engaging manner, blending elements of campus romance, coming-of-age dramas, and post-marriage romance. The plot revolves around Joe, who falls in love with his classmate Sujithra in college, but the romance is doomed. Joe marries Shruti, a strong-willed woman, who isn’t ready to accept him due to her own past ghosts. The couple rediscovers happiness.
Director Hariharan Ram narrates the tale with earnestness, but the events unfold feel perfunctory. The distance between the audience and the characters is lacking, and the characters aren’t written with enough depth for us to root for them. Siddu Kumar’s background score does the heavy lifting.
The director manages to do better in the latter portions, involving Joe and Shruti, and there are some scenes that register strongly, like the scene where Joe’s mother talks about her love at first sight. Joe is decent for a film involving college life and youth, with political messaging right and respect for female characters. It also discusses revenge porn and suicide responsibly.
In terms of craft and engagement value, Joe is decent-enough, not good or bad, but perfectly decent. The film’s success depends on the viewer’s frame of mind when watching it.
