Boudica Movie Review:-

Boudica, the Iceni queen who led an insurrection against Roman colonizers in first-century Britain, is a feminist icon from ancient history. However, there are few cinematic representations of her, with only a few TV shows and films. The vacancy remains for a great feature film about the toughest and most heroic gal from Norfolk, with Edith Cavell and Delia Smith. The dreary take on the killer queen, played by Ukrainian-French actor Olga Kurylenko, is disappointing. Kurylenko’s thin, feeble voice is especially unconvincing in scenes where she’s meant to rally troops with impassioned rhetoric.

The film turns down the audio and cranks up tragic-sounding music, which is a strong sign that the film-makers knew it was going to convince no one. Writer-director Jesse V Johnson has scant talent for dialogue, but his earlier career as a stunt performer and coordinator makes him good at choreographing fights and fisticuffs. The film often looks like a home movie shot with live action role play devotees, but the thwacking of swords and plunging of knives is a bit of a hoot.
