Lakeerein Movie Review:-
Lakeerein is a film directed by Durgesh Pathak that explores the sensitive issue of marital rape, often underreported and stigmatized due to societal misconceptions about consent. Set in Lucknow, the film follows Kavya, a woman who transforms into a strong woman seeking justice, supported by counsel Geeta Biswas (Bidita Bag) and facing egomaniacal Dudhari Singh (Ashutosh Rana).
Despite its intentions and thought-provoking substance, the film falls short in execution. The inclusion of numerous similar cases makes the storyline feel chaotic, and the excessive use of “shudh Hindi” in conversations may hinder effective storytelling.
The performances are credible, with Tia Bajpayee as Kavya and Gaurav Chopra as Gaurav Chopra. Bidita Bag and Ashutosh Rana’s performances as lawyers are well-received. Despite its shortcomings, Lakeerein provides a thought-provoking exploration of the difficult realities faced by many married women. However, a more focused and cohesive execution could have been beneficial. Overall, Lakeerein offers a thought-provoking exploration of the complexities of marriage and the struggles faced by women.
