Samosa & Sons Movie Review:-

‘Samosa and Sons’ is a film set in the picturesque hill town of Uttarakhand, focusing on the complexities of traditional values clashing with modern ideologies. The central character, Chandan Koranga, is a samosa shop owner who struggles between traditional values and modern lifestyles. His nightly encounters with his deceased father’s ghost, played by Sanjay Mishra, create tension between him and his progressive wife, Dhwani.

The film delicately explores the theme of patriarchal conditioning, highlighting the sacrifices made by women in conforming to traditional roles. Dhwani’s character, torn between her dreams and familial responsibilities, serves as a poignant representation of the struggles faced by many women in patriarchal societies.

The film’s satirical tone adds entertainment to its exploration of societal hypocrisy. Shalini Shah’s direction and Deepak Tiruwa’s writing effectively capture the essence of the patriarchal mindset, using humor to convey a serious message. Sanjay Mishra’s performance is standout, providing comic relief through well-delivered punch lines.

Chandan Bisht and Neha Garg, as the central couple, contribute effectively to the storyline, while Brijendra Kala adds realism to the narrative. However, the film falls short in its execution, with a thought-provoking premise that doesn’t reach its full potential due to some shortcomings in execution. Despite its strengths, ‘Samosa and Sons’ is a noteworthy attempt to dissect the patriarchal underpinnings of society using a blend of satire and supernatural elements.
