The Archies Movie Review:-

Zoya Akhtar’s latest Bollywood film, Archies, is a colorful, youthful, and sweet teen musical comedy adaptation of the popular comic book. The cast features a unique canvas with dreampop-like sequences and an endearing retro look and feel. The movie centers around the 90’s kids’ favorite teenagers, Archie Andrews (Agastya Nanda), Veronica Lodge (Suhana Khan), Betty Cooper (Khushi Kapoor), Jughead (Mihir Ahuja), Reggie Mantle (Vedang Raina), Ethel Muggs (Dot), and Dilton Doiley (Yuvraj Menda).

The movie falls short of being as irreverent as the comics, as the characters are almost adulting and making tough choices between passion, practicality, or progress. The theme of wholesome friendship is infused with activism as the gang tries to save Green Park from being torn down for a grand hotel. The film works well as a musical, with tracks by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Ankur Tewari, The Islanders, and Dot (Aditi Saigal) being foot-tapping and fun. Gautam Hegde’s choreography in the songs adds to the film’s visual appeal.

The Archie world’s adorable characters are its strongest point, and the film also features fresh faces like Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Vedang Raina, Dot, Mihir Ahuja, and Yuvraj Menda. However, the movie loses steam in the second half and could have been more engaging as the conflict escalates. Overall, while the look and feel have been created well, the movie ends up a bit underwhelming.
